Judo Moves In Sitka

Gary Goltz, 7th degree black belt who serves as Chief Operating Officer of the United States Judo Association was recently in Sitka to conduct a workshop at the Blatchley Middle School. Mr. Goltz was accompanied by O.J. Soler, 6th degree black belt, Matt and Ashton Farah both 1st degree black belts. The event was organized by Keith Anderson who runs the Sitka Judo Club.

Among the highlights was the promotion of Keith Anderson to 3rd degree black belt. The Sitka Judo Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hames Wellness Center. Judo is a Japanese martial art developed in the late 19th century as a sport and for self defense. It has been part of the Olympics since 1964.
